Worrying

To worry means to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret. In Luke 12: 13-34, Jesus makes us realize that we do not have to worry about anything.

"And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment." Luke 12:22-23

Jesus said we should consider the ravens and the lilies, how God feeds the ravens, and how God makes the lilies grow (Luke 12:24-27).He went on to further buttress that if God clothes the grasses, how much more will he clothe us his children ?(Luke 12:28)

God knows our needs, he knows we need food, clothing, and shelter. He knows all of our heart's desires and that's why he tells us not to worry.

Sometimes believers experience dark thoughts too, Jesus makes us understand that experiencing anxiety, worry, and fear is something we must experience as humans. It is natural to worry about getting a job, starting a new business, going into a partnership, getting into a relationship, footing the bills, and staying healthy. What he wants us to remember is that God knows our worries, he knows our thoughts, and worrying is never a solution.

"And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?" Luke 12:25

What are your priorities?

Jesus wants us to prioritize the Kingdom of God as the number one thing in our lives.

"But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." Luke 12: 31

Jesus wants us to know that we serve a loving father who wants to give us the best of everything.

"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12: 32

He wants us to focus on storing our treasures in heaven. The purpose of doing that is to enable us embed our trust in God and not on the daily pursuits of life.The truth is that if the daily pursuits of life become your main focus and topmost priority (at the expense of kingdom focus) worrying will become a natural consequence. That was why he first told the parable of the rich fool, who was so focused on gathering wealth that he forgot about his soul and the the kingdom of God.

"But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided. So is he that layeth up treasures for himself, and is not rich toward God." Luke 12: 20-21

Here are three notable things I noted from today's passage;

1. God wants us to have faith in him and trust that he knows our needs. Luke 12: 28

2. We should make God's kingdom our priority and everything else we need will come. Luke 12: 15,-21.31- 34

3. We should know that we are valuable and precious to God, if God can take care of the birds and flowers, then we can be rest assured that he will take care of us. Luke 12;24-28

Prayer: Heavenly father, please help me to put my trust in you and trust in you in all things. May I always seek your Kingdom above all things in Jesus Name. Amen.
